VOL. 59, No. 27, May 2, 2005

On Monday, May 2nd, we participated, along with five other local Optimist Clubs, in the Respect for Law Banquet at Mayfair Church of Christ. Our Club presented the Jefferson Davis Smith Respect for Law award to Sheriff's Department Investigator David Moody, who was nominated by Sheriff Blake Doming.

Investigator Moody is a 15 year veteran of the Sheriff's Department. He has served in Corrections, Patrol, and Investigations. According to Doming, "he has displayed to all the highest degree of professionalism and dedication to the citizens of Madison County. David Moody seems to have an uncanny ability of observation and attention to detail."

Duane Plank gave the invocation and led the pledge, and Linda Presley, President of the Huntsville Noon Club, welcomed guests and served as Master of Ceremonies. Judge Howard Hawk, District Judge for Marshall County, was the keynote speaker, and talked at length to us about the impact on families in North Alabama of the production and use of methamphetamines.

A barbeque dinner of pork, chicken, potato salad, coleslaw, rolls and Black Forest cake was prepared by the Arab club, and was mouth-watering.
