VOL. 59, No. 21, Mar. 24, 2005

Second Vice President, Clyde Nevins, presided over festivities today in the absence of President Alberto Durarte and Vice President, Will Dawes.

Chaplain Hershel Bingham was on his way to Arkansas, so Dr. Sidney Sanridge led our blessing and Pledge of Allegiance.

We had four guests in attendance today. Ed Clark reported Hershel turned 90 years old this week. Happy Birthday Hershel! James Overbeek reported on the Band Committee meeting. They have forms sent to area band directors to award deserving students on their attitude and optimism. Ed announced Madison Optimist Club will now participate in the "Respect for Law" Banquet. The banquet will be held at either the Senior Center or the Lodge on the Mountain.

Clyde then turned the meeting over to me to introduce our speaker, Clayton Jones. Clayton is a local commercial real estate appraiser who gave an excellent speech on communication and education. I wish I had his vocabulary. Thank you for coming, Clayton. After a few questions from our audience, Clayton was asked to draw for the attendance prize, which was won by Dick Daugherty.

We recited the Creed and were dismissed.

On a personal note, please pray for my son, Chandler, who is having hip surgery on Thursday, March 31 at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital. Thank you.
