VOL. 59, No. 20, Mar. 17, 2005

President Duarte called us to order for the blessing and pledge of allegiance. Chaplain Hershel again had an inspirational prayer that just seems to always leave something with you as he leads it. After lunch that was provided by Domino's, the regular business meeting was called to order. And I mean literally called to order. The bell was missing.

New member and fund raising chairwomen, Tammy Westmoreland was introduced as our newest affiliate. Fabiani visited us again from the ROC. He and Alberto are on their way to Honduras for a mission trip. Be careful and come home safely. Next on the agenda was our much-anticipated moment of history. Maine become a state in 1820, the American Legion was formed in 1919, Julius Caesar was murdered by Brutus and Cassius in 44BC, Andrew Jackson was born in 1767 and last but certainly not least Alberto turned 53 on March 15th.

Next up was a report from each committee. Tommy Lawless won the oratorical contest in our zone and will represent the club in Birmingham on April 3rd. We are going to invite our essay winners to lunch on day to maybe be a program. Bill Clarke announced a band committee meeting would be held at James Overbeek's office on Monday night. Community service chair Clyde reported all applications were back and will be discussed at the board meeting April 5th. Ed Clark gave good information on the Respect for Law Banquet. Location is to be announced, but will be held the week of May 3rd. Our membership committee announced that upwards of 8 new members might join in the next few weeks. Thanks to Will and Ed Clark and many others who worked strenuously to get the banquet together. The Youth Appreciation Banquet will be April 71h at the Hilton. It was proposed to move some money around by some members to differing banks of whom members work by the finance committee. Policy and bylaw committee chair, Will, has not heard from International about the adoption of our by-laws. The marketing committee wants to see if we may be able to get a digital camera for our photographer, George Ferrell. Fabiani gave a report on the JOOI Club's talent show. They already have one scheduled for next year. Krispy Kreme donut sale will be at Randolph in about 2 weeks. We need to get a date confirmed. The Foundation reported the stock market needs to rise to cover losses over the first quarter.

We recited the creed and were dismissed as promised at 1:00 PM.
