Optimist Club of Huntsville

In 1993 the Optimist Club of Huntsville sold its ball park property at the corner of Oakwood and Andrew Jackson to the City of Huntsville for continued public use. From this sale, the club established a foundation to manage and invest the proceeds to support its youth and community service programs. In 2001 the Club donated $100,000 toward the construction of the Optimist Recreation Center (ORC). The ORC contains two large gymnasiums and the Optimist Meeting Room which is used for Club business meetings as well as meetings of other civic organizations.
